Synopsis

"Kathaah" in Sanskrit means "stories" and as the name suggests, a group of young theatre enthusiasts bring three simple but moving tales to the stage in one evening. Based on the short stories by renowned Indian authors Rabindranath Tagore, R. K. Narayan and Vaikkom Mohammad Basheer, these plays explore human relationships and the joys and miseries that come with them.

Kabuliwala

One of Tagore's most famous works, Kabuliwala, is set in Bengal in the late 19th century. Originally written in Bengali, Kabuliwala narrates a simple, poignant tale of a friendship that blossoms between a child and an Afghan fruitseller.

Second Opinion

A short story from R.K.Narayan's much loved collection 'Malgudi Days', Second Opinion delves into a strained relationship between a mother and her son in a light-hearted yet thought provoking manner.

Walls

Set in Kerala during India's freedom struggle, Basheer's Walls tells the tale of a romance that brings hope to an otherwise lonely life in a prison. Walls, originally written in Malayalam, is believed to based on Basheer's own experience in the prison during the Independence movement.
